Oh-No! Online Sellers Association
Ouch! What a way to start a Monday. Discovered that sometime last week some gremlins got into the database and have been chewing away for the last few days. Discovered lots of missing images and other issues on the weekend and got most of them fixed this morning. Still working on some, so please hang in there with us. We should be able to restore all missing material over the next couple of days. Thanks for your patience!

In an article by Dana Hunsinger in the Indianapolis IndyStar newspaper entitled WHICH WOULD YOU BUY? which spoke to the issue of sales tax not being charged on many online sales, the OSA Executive Director was quoted:

Stephen B. Henry, executive director of the Online Selling Association, said he favors a sales tax that is based on the rate charged in the state where the seller is located. "We think we all should be responsible for paying taxes," he said, "but the system should be fair."

During the interview he went on to speak to the issue of sales taxes being at the same rate, and submitted through the same mechanism, as those handled by sellers doing business locally. It is impossible, he went on to say, for an online seller to file taxes in the amount, and to the jurisdiction, local to the purchaser.
